A seriously useful site: Trudon Mobile March 13, 2009

How about replacing all these…

…with this (not necessarily the specific phone)?

The company responsible for publishing the Yellow Pages, White Pages and other Telkom directory information, Telkom Directory Services, has changed its name to Trudon (why I do not know) and launched a website designed specifically for mobile devices, Trudon Mobile. The website offers access to all the listings in the White Pages and Yellow Pages – type in the name, search and you’re good to go; in addition, because it displays the details electronically, you only need to click on the number and it will dial it from your cellphone. Apple iPhone users rejoice – no need to copy and paste!
In addition to hosting all the directory listings (yep,no more having to fetch the latest publications all the time), the site also gives access to information on news, sport, weather and (a personal favourite) a mobile version of Wikipedia! All that information at your fingertips – what an astonishing thought. Also, because the site is optimised for mobile use, it loads quickly and isn’t too heavy in terms of data usage. Lack of graphics means that it isn’t the prettiest site around, but that doesn’t detract from its usefulness.
I’m a fan of anything that will lessen paper loads and that frustrating hunt for physical information when you really need it and Trudon Mobile certainly does that. It definitely qualifies as a seriously useful site: check it out on your cellphone www.trudonmobile.co.za.
Dear Veethree
Thank you for your blog. Its very entertaining and exciting.
Please note that Trudon Mobile should only be accessed via a cellphone (and NOT via a pc/laptop). This is essentially a mobile product and we will soon be switching off the pc/laptop functionality.
Could you please amend your blog to say “check it out on your cellphone at http://www.trudonmobile.co.za“.
Thanks once again for a fantastic blog.

PS: the hyperlink address http://www.trudonmobile.co.za should not be “clickable” as it would encourage usage from pc’s and laptops. I would suggest that you change the format to text.

No problem – accessing it from your PC would really defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it?
Glad you enjoy the blog!
Aparrently I won some money in the lottery wich I did not play at all. is this posible or a scheme? I’m in South Africa?
Definitely a scheme! If I’d actually won all the money those emails say I did I’d be a multi billionaire; if I’d responded to them as they wanted me too, I’d be a whole lot poorer. Just press delete and you won’t have to worry.
I was also informed I had won RI million by sms.I then smelt a rat when they sent me someones bank details I had never heard of. Johan was the guys name who said no this is not a scam its for real. They wanted address and cell phone details. We handed it over to the police who are now acting on several sms’s and have begun to close in on the gang who best start getting themselves ready for jail. Sick bastards who are criminals and mostly uneducated.Soweton is now running a story.Watch out.
Wow, never heard of one coming quite that close to home before!
The cell number is 073 686 4555 they are in Joberg area Tel 011 507 5752 Johan fake accent.
i received an sms advising me that i had won R100 000.00 in the Trudon Mobile Lotto and that i was to contact a guy by the name of Paul on 0787650499. Is this another one of those scams?
Sounds like a scam to me!
I got the same one today..Seems like a b******t story to me.
I received the same sms that I have won R100 000. I called this Paul person and he was so unfriendly. When I told him that I think this is a scam, he started yelling at me and told me just to do what he told me. I asked him why they want my physical adress. He said they are going to drop off the winning cheque at my house. No EFT? I told him that I want winning confirmation from Vodacom and he could not answer me. Definitely a scam. What do you think???
I don’t think there’s anything there to indicate that it is not a scam. Really – don’t share any information with them at all.
I also received a sms today. Just to post a variation on the theme to warn other people…
” Congrats, you won R100 000,00 in the (SA) Trudon Mobile Lotttery to Claim Contact Robert on Tel:0738739109 Fax: 0865366471 Email: trudonsa@live.com”
The email address was the giveaway for me, and even though I could really use the 100k
I did’nt enter any lotteries.
I have also received an sms advising me that I have won R100k and I should contact Johan 078532 0576 and fax no: 086 212 6508, email: trudo.nm@live.com. Police must bust these crooks who are preying on the poor people. I alsop think it is time the true Truso Mobile company warns the public about this scam.
Just Got a sms and said that I won R750 000 but scam scream for me The sms is from Mr Delan Wilson 0820977118
Sounds like a scam to me, too. I’d report it to Vodacom.
Congrats u won R100.000 in the Trudon Mobile Lottery, to Claim Contact Lionel Smith on 0826809808 Fax: 0862199294 your pin is @#$ http://www.vodacom.co.za
Is this a Scam?
If you didn’t enter any such competition, it’s probably a scam. Don’t reply.
I am also unhappy that people can play with others emotions and financial expectations like this. I suggest that we expose them to TWITTER and people with more experience will follow the scam , soon someone will be caught!!! HOW IS THAT FOR A START TO NAIL THE WHITE COLAR CRIME?
I just recieved thee sms too….i just went to the web and …wallaa!…all scams, there’s no such thing as ‘free money’…
I got n sms saying…congrats u won r100.000 in the trudon mobile lottery.to claim contact Lionel Smith on 0826809808 Fax:0862199294 your pin is……iz thz 4 real
I also got a sms last night saying: Congrats you won R100, 000, 00, in the (SA_UK) Trudon Mobile Lottery to Claim Contact lionel smith on 0799011871, Fax: 0865771103 http://www.vodacom.co.za. The vodacom web seems real. Is this a scam?
Remember, if you don’t remember entering, it’s in all likelihood a scam, especially if there’s a notification you don’t hear about anywhere else!
I also received an sms on 6 July 2010 advising that I was 1 of 10 R100,000 winners fron random Vodacom selection. They gave the name and number for Jackie Smit and an email adress of trudon@safrica.com. I called this Jacke and she sounded quite legit actually and gave me the instruction to mail adress names etc. They were going to forward courier details. When I called Jackie for the 3rd time to enquire when they would send the cheque, the story changed and now I was supposed to speak to Daniel, who had sent me an e-mail (of course not true). Finally she gave me the MD’s number, a Mr Adams, he was snappy and it was now sounding like I was accusing them of foul play. He took the e-mail adress and he was going to “personally” attend to my mail. The numbers have since been unanwered but the scam has been reported to the police.
It is a pity that they use a legitimate business name, Trudon Mobile to drive a scam and in that way damaging the brand value of the entity. Obviously in future I will tread cartefully around Trudon.
Oh my!!!! I got the sms yesterday saying that i have won 150 000 and im should contact Johan on 0785320576, the problem is i have entered a lottery competition by mobile, but the weird thing is why doesn’t he place his landline number. So i called using a different number and the accent was just weird to be trusted. This is a bloody scam for real. Im going to call him again and give him hell.
I got the SMS today ” Congratulation! you have won R750 000 in the TRUDON Mobile Random Number Selection. For claims contact Paul 0739024395 Fax 0866580032 email: trudon@safrica.com” I also phoned from my landline at work, asked him where I can confirm the company said I should visit http://www.trudonmobile.co.za, But I all sounded fishy to me so I hung up.
This has got to stop hey. My daughter recieved the same sms about winning R150K to contact the same Johan guy. After just RICA the new number & phone. Isn’t there something that Vodacom can do?
I älso got a sms sayin dat i won R750 000.I sent äll da info they needed,4 eg:i.d.no etc.Am i in any danger of any sort.
Really wouldn’t have anything more to do with them, personally.
Have you tried out Brabys Mobile Directory
http://www.brabys.mobi
It’s the best online business directory i have used watch out Trudon
Hi: My name is Andre i got message that i won R150 000 and i must call Johan 0785320576 he confirmed the win and asked me to fax details like address id number and tel no to deliver a cheque to me,which i did he then called back from a different cellno and sent me a fax with only fax numbers and another cell no ,(I now suddenly won R250000 Guaranteed) the fax indicated i must pay a courier fee of R400 and a refundable insurance deposit of R1100 into a bank account in order to dispatch the cheque. The R1100 was supposed to be refunded to me in cash when the cheque is delivered ,the R400 is for the courier service. The acc number was sent by sms to me . It is a FNB acc under the name of Mr Collen Mangata Acc No 62283293084 which is a existing acc .I was in need of money ,so i was so stupid to make the deposit ,when i faxed the dep confirmationto so called Johan ,the same guy called back from a different cell no (083 946 1970) and said speed services couriers will deliver the cheque the same day. It did not happen. I got a fax later that day after calling the man, now calling himself Philip P Burns (Signature bottom of Fax on Behalf of Speed Services Couriers ) To pay a insurance Cover policy of R4600 (agreement fee of R3000 and Vat of R1600,into another account i only then called Trudon Mobile and was informed that this is a scam. When i called Mr Burns (Same Voice as Johan with a Heavy Foreign Accent)he shouted that the people saying this is a scam is wrong and he will prove it to me, if i make the Next Deposit of R4600 ,he will personally deliver the cheque to me and go to the bank with me to Cash it Cheque does not need to be paid into a account ,but he needs my bank details to refund the R4600 insurance deposit.Does this make any sense besides to steal my deposit money and have access to my bank acc. Please dont believe this guy.Im going to open a case against him.Maybe he and his friends will get away with it ,like so many crooks in this country ,but God knows who he is, and God said that he will punish those who steal from the poor.
hi
today i recieved the same email, saying that i had won 500 000.00 in sa trudon mobile promo and to contact a person called rani on 0788163732,fax 0866045374.
your next message will be that you have to make a deposit of some sort ,after you made it you will get a second message to deposit an even bigger amount ,the account to deposit the money into is a personal account and not anything to do with trudon mobile ,be aware dont do it i made the first deposit of R1400 and when i refused to make the second deposit of R4500 i never heard from so called johan again .dont do it this is a scam .
Phone the yellow pages they will tell you they have nothing to do with trudon mobile lottery.
How these guys get away with this without being caught i cannot understand.
Guys please. Even the national lottery, you have to work to win it. YOu get up, fill in the form, pay some money and receive a receipt. You even have to take time thinking about the numbers you want to bet. Do not let being cash strapped make you lose it. These scams are everywhere. We all have to work for the bling. Nothing for mahala. I feel sorry for those who lost their money but do spread the word so that everyone must know that these are nothing but scams. I know that some wont believe you.
And I thought we RICA so that our numbers can be traced. How come these scamsters cant be traced? Or are they traceable but we just dont know if they were ever caught? I feel sorry for TRUDON it looks like a legitimate business being preyed on. What a pity. I received the same message but since I know it is a scam. I never responded.People must just learn that money is earned. If you want it work for it. Dont think of being rich overnight.

I called the number and this Paul Adams answered the phone and told me to send a fax to this number with my name, number and address to verify that the contract from Vodacom is in my name. When I asked him how legit this was he just laughed and answered that they do not use the internet because of all the scams out there, can you believe this. They will apparantly phone me tomorrow to confirm.
Now I know this is a scam, because I see that Eileen was almost caught by the same guy, last year.
Thanks for your website.

Trudon Toyota Yaris scam
